PT4U Fashion Apprentice 2012 Day 2

Wow, what a second day of the 2012 PhotoTraining4U fashion apprentice. Every 3 months the apprentices Deborah Selwood and Tom Keenan come down to the PT4U offices for two days. The first day is all about ' The Project ' and day two is set in two parts.

In the morning, Deborah and Tom will watch and learn how Mark or one of the PT4U masters work with designers, make-up and hair artists to a brief, whether it's an established designer or new designer. Over the next 12 months the two apprentice will be learning from the PT4U masters on real fashion shoots. In  the afternoon, Deborah and Tom will get to shoot and learn techniques, and how to work with designers and their briefs.

All elements on a commercial fashion shoot are just as important as each other.  The make up and hair must reflect the designer's clothes and the scene must suit the style of the designer, whether it's fresh and funky or beautiful and elegant. The images above and below are one of many sets from the shoot with a vintage theme. More vintage wedding shoots on PhotoTraining4U

Briefs and story boarding is essential when shooting designers ranges.  You must understand what the designer is looking for to capture the image that they have in mind. Equally it is just as important that you put your flavour and creative edge to the image to bring all the elements together.

In the image above you can see Mark working with the designer fine tweeking the image, whether it's the pose, hair or dress, as each component within the shot must be perfect.

In the above image Mark is talking the two PT4U fashion apprentices, Deborah and Tom, through the shot.  Looking at composition within the image, the pose, the style, as well as the fine details like hair and the dress.

Mark is briefing Deborah and Tom on what they should be looking for with the image, before they start shooting in the afternoon session. Check out PhotoTraining4U for more training films.
