The Image Bank - New York Nights

Here is another photograph from our Image Bank. This image was taken from one of our WOW films on PhotoTraining4U called New York Nights.

This image was shot on location in New York demonstrate the power of portable flash and shooting at night.
One Ezybox Hotshoe by Lastolite was used to soften and control the flash spillage which was situated just out of shot to the models left.

When shooting near dusk, time is always of the essence. However knowing that the sun would be setting behind the city landscape, and creating a dynamic silhouette horizon allowing me to concentrate on movement and expression in the short time span.

The Exposure was determined to over power the setting skyline by 2 stops.
ISO 100 Shutter Speed 1/160th Aperture F5.6

The only post production used was just to add a little more contrast to the scene.

Also in the film you'll see Mark shooting just as the light falls to night over New York City, using a combination of initially flash and then LED lighting the images are really WOW!

The stunning New York Backdrop comes more alive with colour as the light goes, and as you will see some simple lighting produces amazing results, when you allow your self to play a little.
